When did "owned" stop being meaningful?
When did ownership become just another label? “Owned” has to be one of the most casually thrown around words in this space. One week someone is owned by one Domme, two weeks later it’s someone else, then suddenly there are three names in the bio and by next month we’ve apparently started a completely new season lol.
And before anyone gets defensive, I’m not talking about genuine dynamics ending. Of course they do. People change, circumstances change, sometimes two people simply aren’t compatible anymore. Ending one ownership dynamic and eventually entering another doesn’t make it any less real. I’m talking about the revolving door version of ownership.
Because if you’re constantly being “owned” by this Domme, that Domme and the next one who gives you attention, I do have to wonder what that word actually means to you, you know?
At that point, why not just be a community sub?
And I don’t mean that as an insult. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a community sub!! Follow different Dommes. Send to whoever catches your attention. Join servers, play games, buy content, have sessions, explore different dynamics. Have fun with it!
Not every submissive needs or even wants ownership.
I actually think admitting that is far better than pretending every connection you make is suddenly some deep ownership dynamic. There seems to be this idea that “owned” is automatically a more impressive title. Like it’s something you need in your bio to prove you’re a serious sub?
But being owned by six different women in six months doesn’t exactly scream commitment, does it? 😂
At some point you’re not really pursuing ownership. You’re pursuing the feeling of being able to say you’re owned.
And those are two very different things. The title should actually mean something
Personally, I wouldn’t call someone mine just because they’ve sent a few times and we’ve had a good conversation. They might be a regular. They might be someone I like interacting with. They might become someone I pay more attention to.
But mine?
That should mean more.
When I call a sub owned, I want there to be something behind that word. History. Trust. Consistency. Complete unwavering devotion. An understanding of each other. I should know how that person ticks beyond their username and how much they sent me last Tuesday. Their habits. Their weaknesses. What motivates them. What gets under their skin. Their limits. The things they respond to without me having to ask anymore. That doesn’t happen overnight. And honestly, I think skipping all of that makes ownership boring.
Where’s the satisfaction in earning a title if the title gets handed out to absolutely anyone?
If every person walking through the door gets VIP status, it isn’t really VIP anymore. And it's not just subs, Dommes cheapen it too. And yes, I’m putting this on Dommes as well because it absolutely goes both ways!
You can’t complain that submissives don’t take ownership seriously while declaring every new sender your “property” after five minutes. If you have a new owned sub every other day, what exactly did any of them earn?
Maybe some Dommes genuinely enjoy having lots of owned subs and have meaningful dynamics with all of them. Fine, thats great! There isn’t some official maximum capacity for ownership lol.🤣
But there’s a difference between having multiple established dynamics and handing out the title because it sounds good. For me, ownership loses value when there’s no distinction between somebody who has consistently shown up for months and somebody who arrived yesterday.
Why would I give both of those people the same position? One has actually built something with me. The other is still basically in reception😂
Access and ownership aren't the same thing. I think this is where people get confused sometimes. You can have access to a Domme without belonging to her. You can send to her. Talk to her. Buy her content. Participate in her community. Play her games. Have sessions with her. Be a regular name she recognises.
All of that can exist without ownership.
Ownership, at least to me, is another layer. It’s not simply more access. And it definitely isn't “I paid enough money, therefore I purchased a promotion.” It’s being known differently. A community sub might get my attention. An owned sub should have a history with me. That history means I already know things about him. I know his patterns. I know when he’s genuinely trying and when he’s taking the piss. I know what I can push, what I shouldn’t push and what will get exactly the reaction I want!
There’s a familiarity there that can't really be faked. And yes, there can be privileges that come with that. But there should also be expectations. Being owned isn't just getting more from a Domme. This is another part I think gets conveniently forgotten. Some subs seem to imagine ownership as unlocking the premium version of a Domme😂
More attention. More messages. More access. More acknowledgement. More of her time. Okay... but what are YOU bringing to the dynamic? If being owned means I know you better, invest more attention into you and take your submission more seriously, then naturally I’m going to expect more from you too, DUHH!
Consistency matters more. Your word matters more. Your behaviour matters more. If you tell me you're going to do something, I expect you to do it. If you've spent months showing me a certain standard of submission, I'm absolutely going to notice when that changes.
That accountability is part of what makes ownership different.
It shouldn’t just be a shiny badge a sub gets to wear while continuing to behave exactly as he did when he was floating around the community doing whatever he fancied, literally whats the point then?
And please stop collecting owners!?!?This might be the part that annoys people lol, but whatever.🤷🏾♀️ If your bio has basically become a rotating advertisement for whoever currently owns you, maybe ownership just isn't the dynamic you're looking for. And that's okay!!! Seriously!!!!!
Some people clearly enjoy variety. They like interacting with different Dommes, experiencing different styles, personalities and having the freedom to move around.
That's literally what being a community sub allows you to do!
So do that?
I'd respect someone far more for saying, “I'm a community sub, I enjoy serving different Dommes and I'm not looking for ownership,” than watching them swear undying devotion to me on Monday and then introducing their new "owner" by Friday.🫠
Because after a while, the words truly stop meaning anything. “I belong to her.” Okay...but like, until when? Thursday? 😂
Ownership doesn't necessarily have to mean exclusivity either. That's something the people actually involved should decide for themselves. Different dynamics have different rules. But SURELY it has to mean SOMETHING?!
Otherwise we're just putting dramatic words on ordinary interactions. Ownership should be earned! I think that's really the point of all of this. I like there being levels to submission. I like someone being able to enter my space, interact, prove themselves, become familiar, build trust and gradually become more significant to me! I don't want every stage to have the same title because then progression means nothing.
There's something far more satisfying about knowing you weren't automatically given a position, that instead you worked hard for it and earned it! Something you as a submissive can hold on to and be genuinely proud of, and hell yeah in that case SHOW IT OFF! Wear that ownership like a badge of honour because that's exactly what it is, shout it from the damn rooftops lol!
You became reliable enough, consistent enough or interesting enough that the relationship naturally became something different. And when that happens, the title carries the history of how you got there, and that itself has immense value that you shouldn't cheapen by changing your mind or actions 2 days later!
And being an owned sub doesn't make somebody inherently “better” than a community sub. They're different dynamics for different people! However, if we're going to use ownership to describe a deeper level of submission, then maybe we should stop treating it like a temporary relationship status.
Community is open.
Ownership is earned.
Simple.
And if everybody gets to be “owned” immediately, then honestly... what was the title worth in the first place?
