Earn your place. Then keep earning it.
Getting my attention once is easy.
Keeping it is where most of you fail.
You show up confident, eager, full of promises about how obedient you’ll be, how consistent you are, and how badly you want to serve. For the first few days, you’re practically tripping over yourself trying to impress me.
Then you get comfortable.
The effort slows down. The initiative disappears. Suddenly you need reminders. You start assuming your place beside me is permanent simply because I allowed you there once.
It isn’t.
There are no lifetime memberships here.
Your place is earned through consistency. Through showing me that your words actually mean something. Through remembering what I expect without needing me to repeat myself every time.
I shouldn’t have to chase you into being useful.
And don’t mistake this for needing perfection. Things happen. Budgets change. Real life comes first. Communication will always impress me more than making ridiculous promises you can’t keep.
What bores me is complacency.
The assumption that yesterday’s effort should still be earning today’s attention.
If you want to remain one of the ones I recognize, remember, tease, reward, and actually enjoy having around, give me a reason.
Not once.
Consistently.
Because earning your place was only the introduction.
Keeping it is the audition that never ends.
