The Curse

Aug 11, 2026 · 1 min read

Late one wild and stormy night
As thunder rolled o'er rain-swept moor
The darkness sought to hide from sight
A shadow creeping 'cross the floor
But each brief and brilliant burst
Of lightning rent across the sky
Revealed the herald of the curse
Beside the bed on which you lie

She watched you with unblinking gaze
Her palid face devoid of breath
Two crimson embers pierced the haze
And promised little, save for death
She smiled as though she knew your name
As though your cursed fate decreed
That every hope, and every dream
Had led you here for her to feed

She reached with cold and ancient grace
And brushed a hand against your skin
You felt your heartbeat start to race
As darkness stirred her curse within
She bowed her head, your pulse stood still
As though to steal a lover's kiss
You dared not fight against her will
Entranced within that dark abyss

Her fangs sank deep. Your senses swayed
Your pulse grew faint beneath her lips
Then all the world dissolved away
As passion flowed in scarlet drips
The darkness planted something new
With neither malice, hate, nor spite
She left her curse alive in you
To wake beneath eternal night

You told yourself, "It's in your head"
A waking dream
A passing fright
You woke, alone, inside your bed
Or so you thought
Until tonight...
