Thursday.

Such an awkward little day.

Too late in the week to feel productive about anything and not nearly close enough to the weekend to justify champagne before dinner. The weather can't seem to decide what it's doing. My coffee disappeared far too quickly. And I have spent an unreasonable portion of the afternoon contemplating all the lovely things I don't presently own.

Dangerous territory.

There is a particular sort of boredom that makes a woman begin filling shopping carts she has absolutely no intention of emptying herself.

A new perfume, perhaps. Something dark and expensive that lingers after I've left the room.

Jewelry is always persuasive.

Flowers would improve my disposition considerably.

Then again, there is something rather satisfying about wanting something and simply allowing the desire to sit there for a while.

I don't believe every whim should be immediately satisfied.

Where would the fun be in that?

Sometimes it's much more entertaining to leave a little space between I want and I have and see who becomes uncomfortable enough to close it.

For now, I suppose I'll endure Thursday.

Beautifully, naturally.
