Unforgettable
I find boredom terribly unbecoming.
Not on me, of course. I wear it beautifully.
But there are only so many hours one can spend amusing herself before she begins to wonder what has happened to initiative. Everyone seems terribly eager to be noticed these days. They announce themselves. They make promises. They profess devotion with all the ceremony of a man presenting diamonds, only to reveal that they've arrived carrying rhinestones.
How exhausting.
Perhaps I've simply been spoiled by the idea that attention should be earned.
I don't want to be asked endlessly what pleases me. I want someone observant enough to notice. Remember what catches my eye. Learn my tastes. Develop good instincts. Be generous without demanding applause for having managed it.
There is something delicious about a person who simply knows what to do.
And something terribly tedious about one waiting to be given instructions.
I have very little interest in teaching anyone how to impress me.
I'd much rather be surprised.
Consider that today's little lesson.
Or don't.
I'll find some other way to entertain myself.
