Roles and Rankings of Royal Servants

Every ruler must possess a retinue of personal servants dedicated to serving the crown. As a Prince, it is important to delegate and delineate the different roles and responsibilities of servants within my castle as it takes many hands to serve the throne.

There are several roles to fill serving me and many jobs to be done. Here is a list of such roles and their duties, along with their place in my castle's hierarchy.

Chambermaid - My highest ranking personal servant that has earned the permission of residing in the home and entering my private chambers. My chambermaid is to act similarly to a steward in duties but with fewer assumed permissions. My chambermaid would act as a personal attendant, seeing to my immediate wants and needs at the drop of a hat, whatever it may be. A chambermaid must be able to serve me full time with little external work obligations for the serving period.

Tasks: bedmaking, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, table setting and table cleaning, dishwashing, drink service, prepping the bathroom for me to bathe, massage, assist with the removal and putting on of shoes, fetch, end-of-night clean-up.

Cook - One must have served me for long enough to gain my trust in letting them feed me. Not only that, but they must be able to prove the quality of the food they can make. I have a very specific and sometimes expensive palate, so my cook is expected to be capable of making anything I crave (within SOME reason, of course). A cook must be able to serve me at minimum 3 days a week.

Tasks: cooking/baking, weekly meal-prep, grocery shopping.

Footman - The predominant role and privilege of a footman is to accompany me in public settings, acting as a chauffeur, bag holder, footstool/chair, or even just entertainment for me and my friends. A footman must have a car and be comfortable serving me in public. A footman is to be my personal assistant in public only and is expected to accompany me to events, shopping trips, restaurants, and vacations whenever needed.

Tasks: driving me anywhere, accompanying me while shopping and dining out, holding anything I need, assisting me backstage at shows, acting as a chair or footstool when I'm tired, bringing me drinks and smokes.

Laundress - A direct underling to my chambermaid that is specifically responsible for doing the household's laundry. They are expected to handwash anything delicate and take extreme care in meticulously cleaning any garments and soft furnishings. A laundress is expected to serve at least once a week on a set schedule so as not to fall behind on work.

Tasks: handwashing lingerie, handwashing furs, machine washing non-delicates, handwashing bedding, handwashing fetish gear, spot cleaning anything that can't be or isn't dirty enough to be fully washed, putting away laundry.

Servant - A servant is the second lowest rank of the household. They are expected to take care of any routine household chores that would otherwise be done by my chambermaid, as well as deeper cleanings when needed. The difference between a servant and a chambermaid is that a servant is not permitted to live in my home and is not allowed in my private chambers. Servants are expected to serve at least once a week.

Tasks: dishwashing, surface cleaning, window washing, dusting, oven and other appliance cleaning, mopping, sweeping, mirror washing, toilet cleaning, shower cleaning, vacuuming, dusting.

Page - Pages are the lowest-ranking subs that are receiving training to become servants. They are the ones that perform the most lowly, simple, yet humiliating tasks to prove usefulness, worthiness and fealty. A page is expected to serve twice a week until they are finished training or are dismissed.

Tasks: brushing my furs, wall washing, tile scrubbing, toilet cleaning, fetch, shoe cleaning, acting as a footstool, acting as an ashtray.
