Why The Lapis Lazuli Crystal Matters

Aug 29, 2026 · 1 min read

In the old economies — Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Indus — lapis lazuli cost more than gold. It was ground into the crowns of the dead, set into the beards of kings, reserved for those who ruled and those who served the divine. You did not wear it. You were permitted it.

It is the color of depth. Of the hour just before the dark. The blue that sits at the bottom of things, where pressure makes value.

I chose it because it does not perform. It does not sparkle for attention. It sits, cold and certain, and lets the light do the reaching.

You will learn what it means to be held by something that does not need you, only permits you. That is the beginning. Kneel, and continue to serve.
