THE POWER OF ANTICIPATION đź–¤
I think anticipation is one of the most underrated parts of a good dynamic.
Everyone wants the immediate reward.
The immediate response.
The immediate attention.
But I prefer the feeling before anything happens.
That little moment when you know something is coming, but you don't know exactly when.
Maybe I tell you that I'll have something for you later.
Then I disappear for a while.
Maybe I mention a task without explaining what it will involve.
Maybe I tell you to be ready at a certain time, but refuse to give you any more information.
And suddenly, you're thinking about it.
What is she planning?
What will she ask?
Will I be able to do it?
Will she be impressed?
You don't know.
And that's precisely what makes it fun.
I like making someone wait just long enough for curiosity to turn into genuine anticipation.
Not because I want to frustrate them endlessly.
Because sometimes the waiting itself becomes part of the experience.
You go about your day, but somewhere in the back of your mind, there it is.
The thing you know is coming.
Maybe you check your messages.
Maybe you reread the last thing I said.
Maybe you start imagining all the possibilities and convince yourself you've figured me out.
Then I return with something completely different.
That's the beauty of anticipation.
You can never fully prepare for me.
Sometimes I'll give you a small hint.
Sometimes I'll deliberately give you none.
Sometimes I'll tell you exactly when to expect me.
Other times I'll simply say:
“Be ready.”
And leave you wondering.
I can use anticipation with tasks, games, conversations, surprises, rewards, or simply the expectation of my attention.
You might know that something is coming without knowing exactly what.
You might know the goal without knowing the route.
You might know you're going to be challenged without knowing how.
And perhaps the most satisfying part is watching someone try not to think about it.
Because they inevitably do.
They've already started wondering.
Already checking.
Already imagining.
Already waiting for my next message.
That's the power of anticipation.
It creates a kind of tension without needing to rush anywhere.
And when the moment finally arrives?
It feels better precisely because you waited for it.
So perhaps I won't give you everything immediately.
Perhaps I'll give you a little clue.
Then another.
Then make you wait.
And when you're finally convinced you know what's coming…
I'll change the game.
Patience, sweetheart.
Sometimes the waiting is the best part. đź‘‘
