Step 3: Start cheap, upgrade later

Buy a $30 to $60 starter cage (the CB-6000, Holy Trainer nub, or similar clones) before spending $300 on a custom piece. You will learn things about your anatomy in the first two weeks that you cannot know in advance: which ring size actually works, whether you need a shorter cage, whether you need ventilation, whether your body rejects a particular material. Treat your first device as a diagnostic tool, not a forever purchase.

Belts are harder to "start cheap" with because even entry-level belts run $150+. For vulva-owners, the realistic starter path is a soft neoprene belt or a 3D-printed option from a reputable maker, with the understanding that you'll likely upgrade to steel after six months of learning what you need.

Red flags when buying

🚩 No reviews, or only 5-star reviews that all read similarly (likely fake)
🚩 Shipping only from unmarked overseas warehouses with no return policy
🚩 Sellers who can't or won't tell you the material composition
🚩 Prices that seem too good to be true for steel or titanium (almost always counterfeit)
🚩 Aggressive marketing language about "permanent" or "inescapable" devices aimed at beginners
