Terms of Service
Last updated 22 June 2026
DebtKeeper is a personal project, operated by an individual (“we”, “us”), that lets people record and track private arrangements — debts and tributes — between themselves. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use it.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter an agreement. You’re responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up.
What DebtKeeper is — and isn’t
DebtKeeper is a record-keeping and tracking tool. It is not a bank, lender, money-transmitter, payment processor, escrow service, debt collector, or financial institution, and it does not provide financial, legal, or tax advice.
We never handle, hold, or transfer money. Any payment, tribute, debt, interest, fee, or penalty recorded in the app is an arrangement made directly between the two people involved and settled by them through their own means, entirely outside DebtKeeper. The numbers in the app are a shared ledger the participants choose to keep — nothing more.
Arrangements are between users
Debts, tributes and any other arrangements exist solely between the participants. We are not a party to them, we don’t verify, endorse, mediate or enforce them, and we are not responsible for whether anyone pays, performs, or behaves as recorded. Any dispute about an arrangement is between the people involved. Use the service only for genuine, consensual arrangements between adults.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use DebtKeeper to, or to help anyone else:
- break any law, or facilitate fraud, extortion, coercion, blackmail, money laundering, or financing of anything illegal;
- harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate, or abuse another person, or act without the other party’s consent;
- involve anyone under 18 in any way;
- upload content you don’t have the right to use, or that is unlawful or infringing;
- disrupt, overload, probe, or try to gain unauthorised access to the service or other accounts.
Our intellectual property
The DebtKeeper application — its source code, design, layout, graphics, text, the “DebtKeeper” name, and all other content other than user data — belongs to the operator and is protected by copyright and other rights. All rights are reserved.
You are granted a personal, limited, revocable licence to use the service as intended. You may not:
- copy, reproduce, republish, sell, or create a competing or derivative service from any part of DebtKeeper;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or underlying ideas, except to the extent the law expressly allows;
- scrape, crawl, or harvest data or content, or access the service by automated means, without our written permission;
- remove or obscure any proprietary notices.
Your content
You keep ownership of the data you enter. You grant us the limited permission needed to host, store, process and display that data so the service can work (including showing the shared parts of a contract to the other participant). You’re responsible for what you enter and for having the right to enter it. You can export your data and delete your account at any time from your profile.
Beta software, provided “as is”
DebtKeeper is offered free, as a personal project, and is under active development. Features may change, break, or be removed, and the service may be unavailable or discontinued at any time. It is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will always be preserved — please keep your own copies of anything important (you can export at any time).
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from an arrangement between users, from your use of (or inability to use) the service, or from any data loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Suspension & termination
You may stop using DebtKeeper and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or end access for any account that breaches these terms or misuses the service. Some shared contract records may be retained in anonymised form as described in the Privacy Policy.
Privacy
How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes & governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected by the date above, and continuing to use the service means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s country of residence in the European Union, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
